Welcome to Clevedon & District Model Boat Club
The club was founded in 2005 by a group of about 30 model boat enthusiasts with the objectives
of promoting the hobby of model boat building, operation and associated activities within the
framework of local and national byelaws and legislation concerning model boating activities.
The Club is affiliated to SWAMBC and provides insurance for members against third party
liabilities whilst sailing.
Our Club has a varied age range of members who between them have interests in all aspects of model boating, whether it is static, radio
controlled, sailing, building or exhibiting or simply watching.
Amongst the many models seen on our boating lake there have been numerous types and sizes of Yachts, in particular the Victoria which has been
adopted as the Club boat, tugboats, paddle steamers, rowing boats and as befits a Club based alongside the Severn Estuary numerous variations
of Pilot Cutters and other similar scale sailing boats.
Whilst most types of boats are welcome, IC boats are normally only sailed by special arrangement, usually when an event is being held on the
adjacent Salthouse Fields.
As the Clevedon Marine Lake is a public lake, sailing can be at anytime, although Club Members tend to meet up on a Sunday morning, adjourning
to the nearby Salthouse Public House after getting the boats wet.
Why not come along one Sunday morning and see what its all about.
